Write with us
Have you got a story or a recipe worth sharing? We're looking for people living with a J-pouch, an ostomy reversal or IBD to write for Toots & Trots— not writers, not influencers. Just people who've worked something out the hard way.
Share one thing
You've got a recipe that works, or a story worth telling, and that's it. Send it over. We'll score it, tidy the wording and publish it — under your name, a pen name, or no name at all. Nothing to sign up for.
Send us one thingHave your own space here
A profile page of your own, with everything you write gathered under it — recipes and posts, all credited to you or to the pen name you pick. Plus free access to our writing and photo tools for two years, and the GASP score on every recipe as you write it.
Become a creatorNot sure? Start with one piece and decide later — sending something once doesn't commit you to anything.
Why we're asking
One person's experience only goes so far. What worked for someone else, in a different kitchen, with a different body, is worth far more than another recipe from us.
What you get as a creator
- Two years' free access to the Studio — our recipe writer, blog writer and photo generator.
- Every recipe you write is scored against the GASP model as you go, so you can see how gentle it actually is.
- Your name on everything you publish, and a profile page of your own — with links to your own channels, if you have any.
- You choose what that name is.Your full name, just a first name, or a pen name — whatever you're comfortable having attached to writing about your own health. Plenty of people would rather not be findable, and that's completely fine.
- You keep your work. The copyright stays yours, and you can use it on your own site, your own social, wherever you like — we're not asking for exclusivity.
And what we get
Permission to publish what you write on the site, and to share it on our social channels — cropped, captioned and re-cut to fit each one, with your name on it. That permission carries on even if you later leave, because once something's been shared we can't reliably un-share it.
The one exception, and we think it matters: if you've written something personal about your own health and you'd rather it wasn't out there any more, tell us and we'll take it down within 14 days. The recipe can stay; the personal part doesn't have to.
It's all in the creator agreement — a page long, plain English, and you'll be asked to accept it before your Studio opens.
What we ask
- Write honestly, from your own experience — never someone else's.
- No medical advice, no diagnosis, no cure claims. We talk about what helped you, not what will help everyone.
- Everything goes past us before it goes up. We might suggest a change or two — usually small ones about wording.

Tell us what you'd like to share — a story, a recipe, or you're not sure yet. A few sentences is plenty. You don't need a following, a website, or any experience writing: if you've lived it, that's the qualification.
